Hi! I am a sixty year old male, who has fought weight problems all my life. I have gone on many diets only to eventually gain the weight back. It has hurt my health as well as my mobility. In December 2001, I ran with the Olympic torch in Martinsburg WVA. Today I have trouble walking around in Wal-Mart. After much thought and prayer, I have decided to have Gastric-bypass surgery. My surgery is scheduled for March 5, 2009. For 10 days prior to my surgery, I am required to eat only 3 meals consisting of an 8oz glass of protein mix. Yummy!! The first day I was ready to quit. However, I am now on day 7 and doing fine. I do crave food, but I'm not really hungry. When a food commercial comes on TV, I change the channel. I don't miss sweets-just food. I'm reading a book where one of the characters eats peanut butter and olive sandwiches, Normally, I would say yuk! But right now that sounds like a real treat. When I started this preparation, I weighed 319 lbs. After 4 days I weighed 307lbs.
I writing this blog, to share with others my experience with this procedure. I know there are many other people who are constantly fighting their weight. So, please pray with me, as I take this new step towards a more healthier life.
